ומליל שאול עם יונתן בריה ועם כל עבדוהי למקטל ית דוד ויהונתן בר שאול אתרעי בדוד לחדא:
lkhda bdwd athrey shawl br wyhwnthn dwd yth lmqTl ebdwhy kl wem bryh ywnthn em shawl wmlyl
Saul spoke to Jonathan his son and to all his servants, that they should kill David. But Jonathan, Saul’s son, greatly delighted in David.

וחוי יהונתן לדוד למימר בעי שאול אבא למקטלך וכען אסתמר כען בצפרא ותתב בסתרא ותטמר:
wthTmr bsthra wththb btspra ken asthmr wken lmqTlk aba shawl bey lmymr ldwd yhwnthn wkhwy
Jonathan told David, saying, “Saul my father seeks to kill you. Now therefore, please take care of yourself in the morning, live in a secret place, and hide yourself.

ואנא אפוק ואקום לות אבא בחקלא דאת תמן ואנא אמליל עלך פתגמין תקנין קדם אבא ואחזי מה ואחוי לך:
lk wakhwy mh wakhzy aba qdm thqnyn pthgmyn elk amlyl wana thmn dath bkhqla aba lwth waqwm apwq wana
I will go out and stand beside my father in the field where you are, and I will talk with my father about you; and if I see anything, I will tell you.”

ומליל יהונתן על דוד פתגמין תקנין קדם שאול אבוהי ואמר ליה לא יחטא מלכא בעבדיה בדוד ארי לא חטי לך וארי עובדוהי תקנין לך לחדא:
lkhda lk thqnyn ewbdwhy wary lk khTy la ary bdwd bebdyh mlka ykhTa la lyh wamr abwhy shawl qdm thqnyn pthgmyn dwd el yhwnthn wmlyl
Jonathan spoke good of David to Saul his father, and said to him, “Don’t let the king sin against his servant, against David; because he has not sinned against you, and because his works have been very good toward you;

ומסר ית נפשיה כעל גב לאתקטלא וקטל ית פלשתאה ועבד יי פורקנא רבא לכל ישראל חזיתא וחדיתא ולמא תתחיב בדם זכאי למקטל ית דוד מגן:
mgn dwd yth lmqTl zkay bdm ththkhyb wlma wkhdytha khzytha yshral lkl rba pwrqna yy webd plshthah yth wqTl lathqTla gb kel npshyh yth wmsr
for he put his life in his hand and struck the Philistine, and Yahweh worked a great victory for all Israel. You saw it and rejoiced. Why then will you sin against innocent blood, to kill David without a cause?”

וקבל שאול למימר יהונתן וקים שאול קים חי יי אם יתקטל:
ythqTl am yy khy qym shawl wqym yhwnthn lmymr shawl wqbl
Saul listened to the voice of Jonathan; and Saul swore, “As Yahweh lives, he shall not be put to death.”

וקרא יהונתן לדוד וחוי ליה יהונתן ית כל פתגמיא האלין ואיתי יהונתן ית דוד לות שאול והוה משמש קדמוהי כמאיתמלי ומדקדמוהי:
wmdqdmwhy kmaythmly qdmwhy mshmsh whwh shawl lwth dwd yth yhwnthn waythy halyn pthgmya kl yth yhwnthn lyh wkhwy ldwd yhwnthn wqra
Jonathan called David, and Jonathan showed him all those things. Then Jonathan brought David to Saul, and he was in his presence as before.

ואוסיפו עבדי קרבא למהוי ונפק דוד ואגיח קרבא בפלשתאי ומחא בהון מחא סגיאה ואפיכו מן קדמוהי:
qdmwhy mn wapykw sgyah mkha bhwn wmkha bplshthay qrba wagykh dwd wnpq lmhwy qrba ebdy wawsypw
There was war again. David went out and fought with the Philistines, and killed them with a great slaughter; and they fled before him.

ושרת רוח בישא מן קדם יי לות שאול והוא בביתיה יתיב ומורניתא בידיה ודוד מנגן ביד:
byd mngn wdwd bydyh wmwrnytha ythyb bbythyh whwa shawl lwth yy qdm mn bysha rwkh wshrth
An evil spirit from Yahweh was on Saul as he sat in his house with his spear in his hand; and David was playing music with his hand.

ובעא שאול למימחי במורניתא בדוד ולמברזיה בכותלא ואתפטר מן קדם שאול וקבע ית מורניתא בכותלא ודוד ערק ואשתיזיב בליליא ההוא:
hhwa blylya washthyzyb erq wdwd bkwthla mwrnytha yth wqbe shawl qdm mn wathpTr bkwthla wlmbrzyh bdwd bmwrnytha lmymkhy shawl wbea
Saul sought to pin David to the wall with the spear, but he slipped away out of Saul’s presence; and he stuck the spear into the wall. David fled and escaped that night.

ושלח שאול אזגדין לות בית דוד למטריה ולמקטליה בצפרא וחויאת לדוד מיכל אתתיה למימר אם ליתך משיזיב ית נפשך בליליא מחר את מתקטל:
mthqTl ath mkhr blylya npshk yth mshyzyb lythk am lmymr aththyh mykl ldwd wkhwyath btspra wlmqTlyh lmTryh dwd byth lwth azgdyn shawl wshlkh
Saul sent messengers to David’s house to watch him and to kill him in the morning. Michal, David’s wife, told him, saying, “If you don’t save your life tonight, tomorrow you will be killed.”

ושלשלת מיכל ית דוד מן חרכא ואזל וערק ואשתיזיב:
washthyzyb werq wazl khrka mn dwd yth mykl wshlshlth
So Michal let David down through the window. He went away, fled, and escaped.

ונסיבת מיכל ית צלמניא ושויאת על ערסא וית נודא דעזא שויאת אסדוהי וכסיאת בלבושא:
blbwsha wksyath asdwhy shwyath deza nwda wyth ersa el wshwyath tslmnya yth mykl wnsybth
Michal took the teraphim and laid it in the bed, and put a pillow of goats’ hair at its head and covered it with clothes.

ושלח שאול אזגדין למדבר ית דוד ואמרת שכיב מרע הוא:
hwa mre shkyb wamrth dwd yth lmdbr azgdyn shawl wshlkh
When Saul sent messengers to take David, she said, “He is sick.”

ושלח שאול ית אזגדיא למסעד ית דוד למימר אסיקו יתיה בערסא לותי למקטליה:
lmqTlyh lwthy bersa ythyh asyqw lmymr dwd yth lmsed azgdya yth shawl wshlkh
Saul sent the messengers to see David, saying, “Bring him up to me in the bed, that I may kill him.”

ואתו אזגדיא והא צלמניא על ערסא ונודא דעזא אסדוהי:
asdwhy deza wnwda ersa el tslmnya wha azgdya wathw
When the messengers came in, behold, the teraphim was in the bed, with the pillow of goats’ hair at its head.

ואמר שאול למיכל למא כדין שקרת בי ושלחת ית בעיל דבבי ואשתיזיב ואמרת מיכל לשאול הוא אמר לי שלחני למה אקטלנך:
aqTlnk lmh shlkhny ly amr hwa lshawl mykl wamrth washthyzyb dbby beyl yth wshlkhth by shqrth kdyn lma lmykl shawl wamr
Saul said to Michal, “Why have you deceived me like this and let my enemy go, so that he has escaped?” Michal answered Saul, “He said to me, ‘Let me go! Why should I kill you?’”

ודוד ערק ואשתיזיב ואתא לות שמואל לרמתא וחוי ליה ית כל די עבד ליה שאול ואזל הוא ושמואל ויתיבו בבית אולפנא:
awlpna bbyth wythybw wshmwal hwa wazl shawl lyh ebd dy kl yth lyh wkhwy lrmtha shmwal lwth watha washthyzyb erq wdwd
Now David fled and escaped, and came to Samuel at Ramah, and told him all that Saul had done to him. He and Samuel went and lived in Naioth.

ואתחוא לשאול למימר הא דוד בבית אולפנא ברמתא:
brmtha awlpna bbyth dwd ha lmymr lshawl wathkhwa
Saul was told, saying, “Behold, David is at Naioth in Ramah.”

ושלח שאול אזגדין למדבר ית דוד וחזו ית סיעת ספריא משבחין ושמואל קאים מליף עלויהון ושרת על אזגדי שאול רוח נבואה מן קדם יי ושבחו אף אנון:
anwn ap wshbkhw yy qdm mn nbwah rwkh shawl azgdy el wshrth elwyhwn mlyp qaym wshmwal mshbkhyn sprya syeth yth wkhzw dwd yth lmdbr azgdyn shawl wshlkh
Saul sent messengers to seize David; and when they saw the company of the prophets prophesying, and Samuel standing as head over them, God’s Spirit came on Saul’s messengers, and they also prophesied.

וחויאו לשאול ושלח אזגדין אוחרנין ושבחו אף אנון ואוסיף שאול ושלח אזגדין תליתאין ושבחו אף אנון:
anwn ap wshbkhw thlythayn azgdyn wshlkh shawl wawsyp anwn ap wshbkhw awkhrnyn azgdyn wshlkh lshawl wkhwyaw
When Saul was told, he sent other messengers, and they also prophesied. Saul sent messengers again the third time, and they also prophesied.

ואזל אף הוא לרמתא ואתא עד גובא רבא די בשכו ושאל ואמר איכא שמואל ודוד ואמר הא בבית אולפנא ברמתא:
brmtha awlpna bbyth ha wamr wdwd shmwal ayka wamr wshal bshkw dy rba gwba ed watha lrmtha hwa ap wazl
Then he also went to Ramah, and came to the great well that is in Secu: and he asked, “Where are Samuel and David?” One said, “Behold, they are at Naioth in Ramah.”

ואזל לתמן לבית אולפנא די ברמתא ושרת עלוהי אף הוא רוח נבואה מן קדם יי ואזל מיזל ומשבח עד דאתא לבית אולפנא ברמתא:
brmtha awlpna lbyth datha ed wmshbkh myzl wazl yy qdm mn nbwah rwkh hwa ap elwhy wshrth brmtha dy awlpna lbyth lthmn wazl
He went there to Naioth in Ramah. Then God’s Spirit came on him also, and he went on, and prophesied, until he came to Naioth in Ramah.

ואשלח אף הוא לבושוהי ושבח אף הוא קדם שמואל ונפל ברשן כל יומא ההוא וכל ליליא על כן יימרון האף שאול בספריא:
bsprya shawl hap yymrwn kn el lylya wkl hhwa ywma kl brshn wnpl shmwal qdm hwa ap wshbkh lbwshwhy hwa ap washlkh
He also stripped off his clothes. He also prophesied before Samuel and lay down naked all that day and all that night. Therefore they say, “Is Saul also among the prophets?”
